Bootable USB creation app

Rufus is a free utility application for mobile devices from developer MixApplications. It is a tool for creating USB bootable drives that can be used for a variety of purposes like installing OS, recovering systems, and others. It will need a companion USB on-the-go (OTG) cable in order to work properly.

Taking inspiration from Rufus, the popular PC utility tool, this version of Rufus aims to make the process of creating USB boot drives as simple and intuitive as possible. It boasts plug-and-play operation that does most of the process for users after their storage device is detected.

Rufus made mobile

When it comes to creating bootable USB drives, Rufus is one of, if not, the most popular and preferred choice for a lot of users. It's open-source, easy to use, and just works straight out of the box. Here then comes a mobile app of the same name, looking to offer the same ease of use, intuitivity, and simplicity as the PC tool.

Plug in your USB drive, and Rufus will automatically detect your device. Depending on your PC, you can set the File System and Partition Table type that will work with it. Then, tap on the Pick ISO button to browse your device's storage for the specific file you want. Once loaded, it will display the corresponding ISO Label and ISO Size for your reference.

From there, tap Start and wait for it to finish creating your USB Boot drive. Plug it into your PC or laptop to check if it works properly or if something needs to be changed. All of that being said, though, just know that this is not an official mobile version. Also, the app is prone to frequent crashing, which hopefully, will be addressed ASAP.

Is Rufus only for Windows?

While designed and intended for Windows only, the porting application Rufus actually has an Android version, thanks to its open-source license. The unofficial port boasts almost the same features and even receives regular updates. What makes it different, though, is that it simplifies the process of creating USB bootable drives with an intuitive user interface on mobile devices. So, compared to the PC version, it is more accessible even for first-time users.

Create boot drives on the go

All in all, if you're looking for a tool that can replicate the functionality of its popular PC namesake, then Rufus is an app that does an admirable job of doing so. It's easy to use and requires very little configuration to get up and running. Still, be mindful of how you use it to avoid issues. Give it a try now.
